Materials Needed:
oil paints: Cadmium Yellow Light (or any primary yellow), Cadmium Red (or any primary red), Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, and Titanium White.
brushes: assortment of brushes... at least three brushes... 1", 1/2", and 1/4"
palette knife IMPORTANT..(assortment of three sizes... at least one small one) for mixing color and applying paint.
palette to mix colors on
mediums: Odorless mineral spirits
containers: for mediums
paper towels: one roll
canvases: 2 - 11x14" canvasboards, gessoed panels, or wrapped canvas... whatever you feel more comfortable with applying paint on with palette knives... I personally prefer something rigid with canvas for texture. Do not tint canvases ahead of time.

Workshop Concept: This half day workshop will introduce the students to painting in the "Impressionism" technique. The students will be introduced to the Impressionist artists, Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh as we paint in the style they were known for... Impressionism. The students will learn much more than a technique... they will learn the concepts of simultaneous contrast, broken color, optical mixing, texture, and contour strokes in this workshop. Students will work along side of Bernie as they paint their own masterpiece in this style. Bernie's step-by-step technique and individual attention to his students will have you amazed at how easy it is to paint like the Impressionists of old.
